Q) How long does the USPS keep Change of Address (COA) Information?

A) The USPS National Change of Address (NCOA) system retains change-of-address (COA) records for four years from the effective date. This means that the NCOA database includes address changes going back 48 months. [Source: USPS]

However, access to this data varies based on the type of NCOA license held by service providers:

  • Full Service Providers (FSP): Receive 48 months of change-of-address data.
  • Limited Service Providers (LSP): Receive 18 months of change-of-address data.

Therefore, depending on the service provider's licensing, the NCOA data they can access may cover either the most recent 18 months or the full 48 months of address changes.

Bresser's has access to 48 month NCOA processing. All applicable mailings are run through this process prior to addressing. Learn more at our Direct Mail Services page
